What do I mean by dive friendly? I mean a number of things on a number of levels. In general, I am suggesting that we all dive with a friendly attitude toward ourselves, our fellow divers and the environment.

Specifically, in terms of the environment, I suggest:

o1. Do not drag any equipment _ tuck up.1.
n2. Practice good buoyancy.
n3. Do not touch the reef (even with two fingers to get the perfect picture).
n4. Do not feed unnatural food (cheese, crackers, popcorn, bread, etc.) to the fish.
n5. Do not annoy or touch marine creatures such as crinoids, sponges, etc.
n6. Do not pollute.
n7. Promote use of moorings instead of anchoring on the reef.
n8. Promote appropriate development of shorelines.
n9. Promote sustainable fishery practices.
10. Discourage shark finning, black coral harvesting, etc.
11. Learn about seafood _ your seafood choices can help make our oceans healthy again.
